Mellowes Adventure and Childcare Centre

The Client

Mellowes is a family-run adventure and childcare centre in Athboy, Co. Meath run by Steven and Debbie Carthy. They offer outdoor family days out, summer camps, school and creche tours, birthday and communion parties, childcare, and a sensory fairy garden. Open seasonally, the centre attracts families from across Meath, Westmeath, and beyond. The business has grown significantly since Steven first came to us in 2020.

The Challenge

Steven had an old Shopify site that was hard to update and felt too generic for the business. It did not reflect the fun, unique personality of Mellowes or make it easy for parents to book. The business had grown beyond what the original site could handle — new services, new seasons, and growing visitor numbers all needed a better online home.

Our Approach

1. Fun, Playful Design We created a bright, inviting layout that feels right for families with young children. It is professional enough for parents to trust and fun enough to reflect what Mellowes is all about.

2. Online Booking System Bookings for family days, summer camps, and parties are all handled online. Steven gets advance notice of numbers and the paperwork is gone. Parents can book anytime from any device.

3. Summer Camp Registration Summer camp dates, age groups, and the NCS scheme are all clearly laid out. Parents can book and complete registration forms online without needing to call.

4. Party and Event Bookings Birthday parties, communions, and group events can all be enquired about or booked directly through the site. This opened a new stream of bookings that grew quickly.

5. School and Creche Tour Enquiries Schools and creches have a dedicated form to book tours. This makes the process fast and professional for teachers and coordinators.

6. Full SEO A full SEO report and site-wide optimisation was completed to help Mellowes show up when parents search for family days out or summer camps in Meath and Westmeath.

The Design Solution

The finished website is bright, mobile-friendly, and packed with clear paths to booking. Each service — family days, camps, parties, childcare — has its own section. Gift cards can be purchased online. The site is easy for Steven to manage between seasons and I help him add dates and make major updates during the busy period.

The Outcome

Mellowes now has a website that works as hard as the business does. Bookings are automated. Paperwork is reduced. Steven knows in advance how many visitors to prepare for. The site has grown alongside the adventure centre since 2020 and was redesigned to match the business's expansion. It remains one of our longest-running and most evolved client relationships.
