Helping Veterinary Specialists Ireland Deliver Expert Care Online

Veterinary Specialists Ireland is a leading referral hospital for small animals, with locations in Meath and Cork. Laura and Turlough needed a website that felt as professional and reassuring as the care they provide. It had to serve two very different audiences — worried pet owners and referring vets — clearly and quickly.

Goal:
To build a calm, professional website for a specialist veterinary hospital. The site needed to serve two audiences at once — pet owners looking for reassurance and information, and referring vets who need to find services and submit referrals fast. Every page needed to be clear, accessible, and easy to use on a phone.

Approach:
We started by learning how people used the old site and where they got stuck. We then built a clean, structured layout with two clear user journeys — one for pet owners and one for the veterinary community. Each specialist service got its own dedicated page, written in plain language. Speed and mobile performance were a priority throughout.

Result:
A professional, welcoming website that serves both pet owners and vets with ease. Referrals are simpler. Information is easier to find. The team can update the site themselves without any technical help.

The Client

Veterinary Specialists Ireland is a fully equipped referral hospital for small animals. They have locations in Meath and Cork. Their team of specialists covers a wide range of services — from cardiology and oncology to neurology, orthopaedics, MRI, CT scanning, exotic animals, and 24/7 emergency care through their EMERGE service. Laura Cuddy and Turlough McNally lead the business with a commitment to world-class veterinary care.

The Challenge

The old website made it hard for visitors to find what they needed quickly. Pet owners arriving in a stressful moment needed calm, clear information fast. Referring vets needed to find specialist services and submit referrals without friction. The site also needed to handle a large and growing range of services across two hospital locations — and be easy for the internal team to keep up to date.

Our Approach

1. Understanding the Business First
We spent time learning how VSI works — who visits their site, what they need, and where the old site let them down. This shaped every design decision.
2. Two Clear User Journeys
The site has a dedicated Pet Owners section and a Veterinary Community section. Each one guides its audience to the right information without overlap or confusion. The "Refer a Patient" button is always visible and easy to tap.
3. Individual Service Pages
Every specialist service has its own page. Cardiology, oncology, neurology, orthopaedics, MRI, CT scanning, exotics, rehabilitation, and more — each one is written in plain language. Pet owners can understand what to expect. Vets can assess the service quickly.
4. Mobile First and Fast
Most people visit vet websites on their phone — often in a stressful moment. The site loads fast and works perfectly on any screen size. Nothing is hard to tap or hard to read on mobile.
5. Easy for the Team to Manage
The VSI team can add new staff profiles, post news and updates, add case studies, and edit services at any time. No developer needed.

The Design Solution

The final website is calm, clean, and highly professional. The layout guides visitors clearly from the moment they land. Two hospital locations are clearly presented. All specialist services are easy to browse and understand. The design feels reassuring — which matters when a pet owner is worried or a vet needs to act fast.

The Outcome

Veterinary Specialists Ireland now has a website that matches the standard of their care. It is fast, accessible, and easy to use. Pet owners can find the information they need without stress. Vets can refer patients and access CPD resources with ease. The team manages all content updates in-house. Since launching, the site has seen better engagement and positive feedback from both pet owners and the veterinary community.
