About Revolut Business in Ireland
What is Revolut Business?
Revolut Business is a financial platform used by thousands of Irish businesses to accept payments, manage money, and exchange currencies. Unlike traditional banks, Revolut uses the interbank exchange rate as its base, which means you typically get better rates when paying suppliers or receiving money in foreign currencies.
Revolut Business is not as widely used for website payment processing as Stripe, but it is a strong choice for Irish businesses that receive payments in multiple currencies, want to avoid VAT on processing fees, or already use Revolut for their day-to-day business banking.
We use Revolut Business ourselves at DesignBurst alongside Stripe.
Revolut Fees
How does Revolut Business pricing work?
Revolut Business offers several monthly plans. The rates shown in this calculator are for the Basic plan at €10 per month, which is the most common plan for small and medium Irish businesses.
The main difference between plans is the amount you can exchange at the interbank rate each month without paying a conversion fee. On the Basic plan you can exchange up to €1,000 per month for free. Above that Revolut charges 0.6% during trading hours or 1% outside trading hours such as weekends.
Does Revolut charge VAT on fees?
No. This is one of the most important differences between Revolut and Stripe for Irish businesses. Stripe charges 23% Irish VAT on top of every processing fee. Revolut does not. This means Revolut's headline rates are often more competitive than they first appear when you compare them directly to Stripe's VAT-inclusive fees.
Use the comparison section in the calculator above to see the difference on any amount.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Revolut compare to Stripe for Irish business?
Both are excellent payment platforms and we use both at DesignBurst. Here is a plain English comparison to help you decide.
Choose Revolut if you receive payments in multiple currencies regularly, want to avoid VAT on processing fees, already use Revolut for business banking, or want a simple and affordable in-person payment option without a monthly terminal rental.
Choose Stripe if you need to integrate payments directly into your website or ecommerce store, want a wider range of payment methods and developer tools, or process high volumes of online card payments where Stripe's infrastructure and reporting are more powerful.
Many Irish businesses use both. Stripe for website payments and Revolut for in-person and international payments.
Is Revolut Business free to use?
No. Revolut Business plans start at €10 per month for the Basic plan. You also pay per-transaction fees on payments processed. However there is no setup fee and the Basic plan is enough for most small Irish businesses.
Can I pass Revolut fees on to my customers?
In Ireland and across the EU you cannot add a surcharge to card payments to cover processing fees. This is prohibited under EU payment services regulations. You must absorb the fees into your pricing. This calculator helps you do that accurately.
Does Revolut work with Irish websites and ecommerce stores?
Yes. Revolut Business offers payment links and a basic ecommerce integration. However for full ecommerce website integration with WooCommerce or a custom checkout, Stripe generally has more comprehensive developer tools and plugins. We can build both types of payment integration into your website. See our custom website design services for more information.
Are these rates accurate?
The rates in this calculator are correct for Revolut Business Ireland as of May 2026 on the Basic plan. Revolut does update their pricing from time to time. Always verify current rates directly at revolut.com/business before making pricing decisions. This calculator is not endorsed by or affiliated with Revolut.
Why does Revolut not charge VAT on fees?
Revolut's Irish entity is regulated as a payment institution rather than a VAT-registered service provider for processing fees in the same way Stripe is. The practical result for your business is that the rate you see is the rate you pay, with no VAT added on top. This makes Revolut's effective rates lower than they may appear compared to Stripe's VAT-inclusive fees.
